2025 Ferrari CLA C118
By Lorenzo Bianchi March 14, 2025
The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA introduces a new generation of vehicles with enhanced space, comfort, intelligence, and efficiency. As the first model in a redesigned lineup, it offers both electric and hybrid powertrains, debuting with the all-electric CLA.
Advanced Technology with MB.OS
The CLA is the first Mercedes-Benz to run entirely on the in-house Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). This AI-powered platform integrates a supercomputer connected to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud, enabling over-the-air updates for vehicle functions, including driver assistance features.
Next-Generation MBUX Infotainment
MB.OS supports the fourth-generation MBUX system, which personalizes the user experience with AI-powered assistance from Microsoft and Google. The MBUX Superscreen uses high-performance chips and real-time graphics from the Unity Game Engine, featuring an enhanced Zero Layer interface for quick access to essential functions.
AI-Driven Virtual Assistant
The MBUX Virtual Assistant, powered by generative AI, enables complex voice interactions with memory retention. Integrated with ChatGPT-4o, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini, it provides navigation and vehicle-related insights. The assistant appears as a dynamic Mercedes-Benz star avatar and adapts to the driver’s emotions and queries.
- Hybrid supercar with V8 engine – Combines a 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors for improved performance and efficiency.
- Lightweight carbon fiber monocoque – Chassis design enhances structural rigidity while keeping weight low.
- Advanced aerodynamics for stability – Active aerodynamic elements optimize downforce and high-speed stability.
- Plug-in hybrid system with performance focus – Offers electric-only driving capability while maintaining supercar-level acceleration.
- Adaptive suspension for track and road use – Adjustable suspension settings cater to both performance driving and everyday usability.
- Driver-focused cockpit with digital interface – Features a high-resolution digital instrument cluster and minimalistic interior layout.
- Regenerative braking system for energy recovery – Converts braking energy into electric power to improve efficiency.
- All-wheel drive with torque vectoring – Distributes power dynamically for enhanced handling and cornering control.
- Limited production with exclusive features – Production numbers are restricted, making it a rare high-performance hybrid supercar.
- Optimized for aerodynamics and cooling – Large air intakes and cooling ducts support engine efficiency and thermal management.
Google Maps-Based Navigation
The CLA features an advanced Google Maps-based navigation system that integrates real-time data and AI-driven guidance. The MBUX Surround Navigation provides a 3D driver-assistance view, enhancing situational awareness.
MB.DRIVE Assistance and Safety
Equipped with standard safety features and DISTRONIC Distance Assist, the CLA offers an optional MB.DRIVE ASSIST package. This system includes Steering Assist for Level 2 automated driving and Lane Change Assist, improving highway maneuverability.
Efficient Electric Performance
The all-electric CLA features EQ Technology, with the CLA 250+ delivering up to 792 km of WLTP range. The 800-volt architecture supports DC fast charging, adding 325 km of range in ten minutes. A new battery with high energy density reduces the vehicle’s carbon footprint by 40% compared to previous models.
Two-Speed Electric Transmission
A two-speed rear-axle transmission enhances acceleration and efficiency. First gear optimizes urban driving and towing capacity, while second gear maximizes highway efficiency and range.
Standard Heat Pump for Efficiency
The CLA includes a multi-source air-to-air heat pump that utilizes drivetrain and battery heat, reducing energy consumption compared to conventional heating systems.
Hybrid Powertrain Options
Alongside all-electric models, the CLA will introduce a 48-volt hybrid system with three power levels. The hybrid system enables electric-only driving at lower speeds and energy recuperation across all eight gears.
Dynamic Exterior Design
The CLA blends intelligence with athletic proportions, featuring a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and muscular contours. The illuminated Mercedes-Benz star panel with 142 LED elements creates a distinctive front-end design. Star-shaped LED headlights and taillights enhance visibility and brand recognition.
Panoramic Roof and Minimalist Interior
All CLA models include a standard panoramic glass roof, providing an open, spacious feel. The interior is centered around the MBUX Superscreen, integrating a floating digital display setup with a driver display, a central 14-inch touchscreen, and an optional passenger screen. A high-mounted center console and floating leather-wrapped door panels contribute to a modern aesthetic.
