An update built around interaction

The 2026 Audi Q5 FY does not attempt to redefine the midsize SUV formula. Instead, it sharpens the areas owners touch, see, and use every day. As part of Audi’s broader 2026 A5 and Q5 model-year update, the Q5 receives a comprehensive mix of hardware and software changes aimed at making the driving experience more intuitive, efficient, and emotionally engaging.

Audi’s approach is methodical. Rather than reshaping the vehicle, the brand has focused on how information flows through the cabin and how systems adapt to different driving situations.

Exterior continuity with subtle trim shifts

From the outside, the Q5 remains visually familiar. Body proportions, stance, and overall surfacing carry over unchanged, maintaining the balanced and upright presence that has defined the model in the US market. Changes for 2026 come through trim and equipment rather than sheet metal.

New optional S line black optic packages on selected trims introduce darker exterior accents, black roof rails, and larger bi-color wheels. These details add visual contrast without altering the Q5’s restrained design character, reinforcing its premium positioning rather than pushing overt sportiness.

A clearer digital environment inside

The most noticeable transformation occurs inside the cabin. Audi introduces an all-new MMI design language across the Q5’s digital instrument cluster, central touchscreen, and available passenger display. The interface now uses fewer lists and more graphical elements, improving readability and reducing distraction while driving.

Audi-native applications appear in bright monochrome, while third-party apps such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are shown in colour. Smartphone navigation, media, and phone functions can now be mirrored directly into the Audi virtual cockpit, allowing key information to sit naturally in front of the driver.

The virtual cockpit itself adopts a cleaner structure with fewer icons and three selectable views. Drivers can switch between a classic instrument layout, a navigation-focused display, or an integrated driver-assistance view.

Audi also updates the multifunction steering wheel, bringing back a physical scroll wheel in place of the previous touch-sensitive surface. It is a subtle change, but one that clearly prioritises usability.

Adaptive driving systems take the lead

For 2026, Audi expands drive select functionality across the Q5 range. Individual mode is now a standalone selection with additional configuration options, allowing drivers to fine-tune steering, drivetrain response, and other parameters more precisely.

On Prestige trims, the new Audi drive select assistant becomes available. This system automatically adjusts drive select settings based on driving conditions and learned driver behaviour, continuously balancing ride comfort and responsiveness without requiring manual intervention.

Assistance, convenience, and ownership value

Driver assistance and parking technologies see meaningful expansion. Park assist pro now supports reverse assist for the final 50 metres when backing into a space and can memorise repeated parking manoeuvres on private property. A new integrated high-resolution dashcam records 4K footage locally to a removable SD card, with no data transmitted outside the vehicle.

Every 2026 Audi Q5 sold in the US includes Audi Signature Care scheduled maintenance for the first three years or 30,000 miles, adding tangible ownership value alongside the technology upgrades.
