Digital Integration Expands Inside the RS 5 Sedan
The 2027 Audi RS 5 Sedan arrives with a familiar focus on performance, but the quieter story sits within the dashboard. Audi has expanded its digital ecosystem by integrating two new third-party applications, EasyPark and ryd, directly into the MMI infotainment system.
It is a subtle shift in philosophy. Rather than relying on mirrored smartphone apps, Audi embeds these services natively within the vehicle interface. The goal is straightforward: reduce friction in everyday driving. Less fumbling for phones. Fewer external cards. Shorter stops.
EasyPark Embedded in the MMI
With EasyPark, the 2027 Audi RS 5 Sedan can automatically detect supported parking areas across more than 60,000 locations in approximately 1,300 European cities. Once the vehicle is placed in “P,” a pop-up appears in the MMI, prompting the driver to begin the digital parking process.
A single tap starts the session. As prepaid time runs low, the system notifies the user via smartphone, allowing extension either from the phone or directly within the car. When the vehicle exits the parking area and exceeds 15 km/h, the parking session automatically ends.
In a high-performance sedan like the RS 5, this kind of automation feels almost ironic. A car engineered for speed now simplifying the moments when it stands still.
Ryd for Fueling, Charging, and Washing
The ryd app adds another layer of convenience. It enables contactless payment for fueling, charging, and even car washing directly through the MMI interface. In Germany alone, the service covers more than 10,000 fuel stations and more than one million charging points across Europe.
The process is practical. Nearby fuel stations are automatically detected, the driver selects the pump number, confirms the maximum amount and payment method, and proceeds. Charging follows the same principle. The system identifies compatible stations, integrates navigation, and allows activation and payment without external cards or QR codes.
There is a certain restraint to the way Audi presents it. No theatrical language. Just quiet efficiency.
Application Store Built Into the Vehicle
Both EasyPark and ryd are accessed via the Audi Application Store, integrated directly into the MMI and developed in collaboration with CARIAD. A myAudi account and active data connection are required, but the system does not depend on a connected smartphone.
This is significant in a market where brand character is increasingly defined by digital savvy. Connectivity is incorporated into the performance story of the 2027 Audi RS 5 Sedan. Not horsepower or torque numbers, but the vehicle's ability to blend in with daily activities.
